Useful Information

Once you have placed your booking with us you will be emailed information about where and when to meet with David on the start day of your holiday.  David will give you a full handover of the boat inside and out and ensure you feel comfortable and confident before you embark on your journey.  He will give you all the information you need for a safe and relaxing canal holiday.

Please note David will drive the boat out of Mercia Marina whilst he does the handover and on your return you will be given a meeting point before you get to the Marina where David will meet you to drive back into the Marina.

As soon as you have booked your holiday with us we advise you to take out personal travel insurance.

Useful reading and videos

Prior to your holiday it is advisable to visit the Canal and River Trust website where you will find some  useful pieces of information and videos about going on a boat holiday, driving your boat, speed limit etc.

The following website is also useful to have a look at prior to your holiday.  It describes boating etiquette.

This page has a few video tutorials which are well worth a watch

With thanks to Willow Wren Training for the use of their information.

This is a useful video to watch by the Canal and River Trust.  The Boaters Handbook DVD

The Boaters Handbook includes information about boating through locks, tunnels, under bridges, using paddle gear safely, casting off, cruising and tying up to name a few.  Please familiarise yourself with the handbook prior to your holiday.  There will also be a hard copy of the Boaters Handbook onboard our boat.
